Cell phone

Hello people. I kinda feel if we give eachothers cell phone numbers we will b able to communicate better. i Honestly have no idea whats happening with meeting at someones house for tommorow haha. It's nonsense to be checking the blog every 10 min, so with having eachothers phone numbers it's easier and faster. I know my house is available tommorow anytime for doing the storybord skitt. Its really easy to get to as well. My number is 925-818-3218

Fiona, that would be awesome if you could ask your dad to contact a professor or what not...one of us could interview him!!!!!!!!
So I am kinda thinking since we can all edit and contribute to the google docs, we should just add what we think and maybe put our names by what we say. Then once everybody says what they want to, we could all edit it and come up with a plan we agree on, wether that means meeting at someones house or contact with a cell phone. This way we wouldn't need to settle any disputes before we start making the clips.
That's my 2 cents.

Documentary

Hey there are some awesome videos about rwanda on youtube from pbs and there might b some peopl my dad could find from a collage that study african history but idk so yeah tht might b an option

My apologies

My apologies for not checking on this for several days... guuuh always sidetracked.
However! I can prove to you I have made up for my lack of blog participation by saying that I am pretty much finished with my research!!!
I don't know about everyone else, but I got plenty of notes on:

  • The Genocide itself
  • The aftermath
  • General info about Rwanda (the country, location, customs, etc.)
What else is being done for research?

Google docs

Okay guys so I created the google docs, i just did copy and paste from the link she gave us on school loop. Can you all give me your e-mails so i can add you all?
Okay we need to start our plan. Miriam and I are in the same class so we can start tomorrow. One of us needs to create the google docs storyboard template (I can do that if necessary). Lets get to it.

PS: Please start checking blog regularly!!!!

fail-my first post didn't work :(

Anyway- it think we should make our documentary for children our age because high schoolers might be too advanced. Also, since this subject of genocide is slightly grim, I think it would be a little over heads of kids too much younger than us (not to mention, it might scare elementary schoolers).

Also sine we are doing a documentary, i think we should stick closely to the subject so our video doesn't get random. However, I still think that it is an option to branch off a little but not too much.

As far as expertise goes, I can work a vide camera and I have two. I can also work iMovie but I'm not that good with video editing.

In ways of resources, I will look for some and post them as I find them.
Okay I fixed the colors. And, yes, Christian, I had to be rid of your hut picture after all... Alas. Hopefully this will work a little better.

And I found this picture:

Which is like a modern-day wanted sign for creepy guys that did things... well, things frowned upon. Perhaps if further research is completed, we can include this and information on these people?
Hey guys, I'm pretty good with cameras/videocameras so I could do some of that. Also, Miriam and I know how to use iMovie from the booktrailer project. We could use that to do our documentary. We could show pictures, do voice overs and what not.

About Hotel Rwanda, I can get it and we can watch it at my house if we want. It's really up to you guys if you want to watch it by yourselves or not. Hotel Rwanda would be a great start out gathering information because it gives awesome background on the event.

I agree with Mary and think we should present our blog to a maturer audiance do to the gruesome topic. If we try to make it for elementary kids we would not be able to really describe the event. Start gathering information and lets do this thing!

So apparently since I'm admin I get to change colors and pictures and stuff. Woo! I also know some basic HTML for coding stuff... font colors, backgrounds, headers, other complicated stuff to make the layout nice.
If you guys find anything for the background/color scheme/whatever you can post something and I'll try to acquiesce to your request...!

Christian had a great idea that we should watch Hotel Rwanda to get a better idea about what we're studying. I guess wait for him to say something about it... he only spoke to me briefly about it.

Other than that, I have nothing else to say. So consider this to be a conclusion, I guess.
Okay so guys I think that we should make our documentary more for middle school kids. I think we should do this because younger children would not really pay attention and it is also a horrible thing that happened that may scare them. If we made it for older children, we would have to make it really professional and informational. Not many people even know that the genocide happened so I think that middle schoolers would benefit from learning about it.

We should probably give details about the cause and effect on the genocide and also the background about the people and country itself. We should include their way of life and possibly history about the tribe. Also, we should talk about who helped out and who it started with.

Who knows a lot about cameras, and just documentaries in general. I can write scripts and such pretty well and I work well with people. Does anyone have any job that they really wanted to do our know a lot about?

We should probably start working on getting information about our topic and finding some good websites to use. Also, it would be helpful to get some books and pictures.
